The One Habit That Makes Life Simpler

(And Why Most Christians Skip It)

If you’ve ever felt like life keeps getting louder, faster, and more complicated — even while you’re trying to follow Jesus — you’re not alone. We all crave a simpler, more peaceful rhythm, but often we try to add more to our lives instead of subtracting.

Here’s something we've learned in the Simple Faith, Healthy Life Tribe: simplicity doesn’t start with decluttering your closet or cutting your schedule. It starts with trust.

Think about it — most of our stress comes from trying to control outcomes that belong to God. We worry about how people see us, how things will turn out, or whether we’re “doing enough.” But Jesus said something different: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

Here’s a simple, practical way to live that out this week: Each morning, before checking your phone or to-do list, pause and pray this line —“God, today I trust You to order my steps.”

Then, write down three priorities for the day — not ten, not twenty. Just three things that actually matter. Out of those three, what is the ONE thing you must accomplish today?

This isn’t about doing less for the sake of laziness; it’s about doing what matters most. The surprising part? When you give God control of your priorities, life starts to feel lighter. You begin to notice peace in small places — in traffic, in conversations, even in your to-do list.

The truth is, simplicity isn’t a lifestyle trend. It’s an act of faith and a way of living.

Remember, God loves you and so do I!
