Does God Care About My Health?

ree

When we think about faith, we often separate it from our physical health. But Scripture paints a different picture: God designed us as whole beings—body, mind, and spirit. He cares about every part of us, including our physical health.

Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. That means our health isn’t just about us—it’s a way we honor God.

So how do we live this out in a simple, practical way?

Rest Well – From the very beginning, God set a rhythm of work and rest. The Sabbath wasn’t just a rule—it was a gift. When you take time to stop working, Sabbath, or simply rest, you are trusting God to run the world without you. Rest is worship.

Fuel Wisely – God gave us good food to nourish us, not just to fill us. Choosing water over soda, or vegetables over processed snacks, can become small daily acts of stewardship. In doing so, we say, “Lord, I thank You for this body, and I will care for it to the best of my ability.”

Move Daily – We are created for movement. Walking in the cool of the garden with God wasn’t just spiritual—it was physical too. Exercise isn’t punishment; it’s participation in the life God designed us for.

Connect Deeply – True health goes beyond our bodies. Prayer, Scripture, and relationships all nurture the soul. When we connect deeply, stress lowers, hope rises, and healing takes root.

So, does God care about your health? Absolutely. He knit you together (Psalm 139:13), and He delights when you thrive. The resurrection in the life to come will have a new physical body. Every step of rest, fuel, movement, and connection is not just self-care—it’s God-care.

Prayer: Lord, help me honor You with my body, mind, and spirit. Teach me to rest, fuel, move, and connect in ways that bring You glory.
